Holy Cow! Where Has the Time Gone?!?

Goodness gracious! Has it really been almost a month since I posted? Good grief! Time is sure flying by at warp speed. Well, what have we been up to you ask? Well, marathon season and Halloween to be exact! The past month has been filled with the Chicago Marathon (in which my son and Tracy ran) and followed two weeks later by the Marine Corp Marathon in Washington DC (in which we all ran…yep, even me, against doctor’s orders….shhhh).  Oh yeah, and we sandwiched  the Hot Chocolate 5K in there too.  I know…CHOCOLATE…right? Who could resist running/walking that one, too.  Even little Emma and my niece and nephew ran that one! Emma also had her first horse show and she and Miley dressed up as Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz!  I have been working on some cards in the mean time, but I haven’t posted them yet. They will be soon to follow but at this time, I wanted to share some of the past race highlights with you and brag about my son a little (he is 18 and ran two marathons in two weeks..the later which was on his 18th birthday!) I’ll leave you with some pics:

Mad for Halloween

Here is a cute little card I made featuring another one of the Some Odd Girl stamps that I love.  This card features the Mad Scientist Tobie digital stamp.  I decided to go for the grungy look for this card.  I used gesso, acrylic paint and embossing paste ala Tim  🙂  I hope this card inspires you to get out all of those unused items in your stash and just play and create with them! PS- this card was featured in the Spotlight for Some Odd Girl…squeal!!!  🙂

Fall is in the Air

Here is a cute little card I made last night with a Saturated Canary image.  I think she looks perfect for fall! I colored her with copic markers and, as always, I added glitter to her.  I am going to enter this card in the Oozak Challenge Blog #22 Fall.

Too Cute to Spook

Well, as promised, here is another one of the cards I just finished.  This cute little kitty is from Some Odd Girl. The digital stamp is called Witchy Kitty and you can fly on by and catch her here! I decided to enter her in the Some Odd Girl September ( yeah, September already…can you believe it?!) sketch challenge.  This is the sketch I had to work with:

And here is my take on the sketch:

If you ask me, I think it turned out Purrrrrfect! I colored the kitty with copic and added my signature glitter for lots of Halloween shimmer and fun!

Glittery Zombies! Gotta Start Getting Ready for Halloween!

Last night I started to make Halloween cards.  I decided to enter Zombie Niamh in the Saturated Canary challenge number 51…Coloring Technique.  I have to be honest, I have never put a background on a stamp and this was my first attempt.  I decided to use the dot technique.  I am going to have to start doing this more often!!!  I dotted the background with my copics but I also added dots of gold stickles for that glitter and shine I love so much!! Gotta have that shimmer! 🙂

Coffee!!!!

Well, it’s 0838 in the morning and this card seems VERY appropriate!  As a matter of fact, I’m on my fourth cup already.  I might have a small caffeine addiction. LOL.  Here is an adorable card I made featuring Cuppa Mae from Some Odd Girl. I LOVE these stamps! I have plans for Mae for winter cards as well.  However, for this card, with fall around the corner, I channeled my inner floral self as a last reminder of summer.  I love the way it turned out!!  I hope this card inspires you!  I’ve got to go right now…my coffee cup needs another refill  🙂

Play ball!…..in a Chicken Hat?!

Well, life has thrown us another curve ball in this game called life.  Our Dad just found out he has pancreatic cancer 😦 Needless to say, we took a little time off making cards.  On the bright side though, I have tons of stamps I have been coloring, so there will be lots of cards soon! The other night I was able to make the following card from the August Some Odd Girl Challenge.  This card features the adorable little puppy and butterfly image from SOG.  I paired it with a floraly background and cute little mushrooms.  This card screams out happiness to me!  I LOVE the way it turned out.  I may have missed the deadline to submit it for the challenge, but I still love it!

Also, I couldn’t help but share some photos from Stampaway.  Tracy and I won first place in the crazy hat competition and we got to meet our idols Tim and Mario again!  Its great that they remembered us and that we were joking around with them like old friends. Love these guys!  🙂 I also met Dyan Reaveley from Dylusions and she inspired me to journal my back injury, surgery, and recovery.  Look for some Smashing ideas coming soon too!
